IMS Update for 8.8.23

Here is the update presented by SiteLogIQ on the progress of the renovations at IMS. The important note here is that everything is proceeding as scheduled, and the school will be ready for opening day.

Timeline of Important Dates

This update on our important project milestones was presented by the team from Draw Collective at the August 8, 2023 Board meeting.

ACT 34 – New Bethel Elementary

As required by Act 34 of the Pennsylvania School Code, the School District presented the new elementary school building project and the financing plan. The presentation included a review of the reason for the project, the design of the new building and an analysis of the impact of the project on the school district’s budget. Please note, the financial information provided was estimated intentionally high to mitigate the need for another hearing if the costs were actually above expectations. Public comment on the project will be accepted by the Board Secretary until noon on August 25, 2023.

Bethel Park Planning & Zoning Commission Meeting

At the Bethel Park Planning & Zoning Commission meeting tonight, by a vote of 7-1, the commission approved the application from the Bethel Park School District for the lot consolidation and lot development proposal to construct the new K-5 elementary school on the Neil Armstrong campus and adjacent property.

May Update On IMS and Bus Garage

The Hayes Design Group presented an update on the bus garage project with some “before and after” pictures. They also reviewed phase two of the Independence Middle School renovation project, including the revised timeline, as presented in the attachment.

Traffic Impact Study for the Proposed Bethel Park Elementary School

Herbert, Rowland & Grubic, Inc. (HRG) performed analyses and compiled a Transportation Impact Study (TIS) for the Proposed Bethel Park Elementary School proposed in the Borough of Bethel Park, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. The proposed development at the site of the existing Neil Armstrong Middle School located on the southern side of the Kings School Road. A location map and site plan are provided in Figures 1 and 2, respectively.
